Dear Dr Phillips
Prison staff need a pay rise
As you know from the pay negotiations covering staff working in the college, the cost of living crisis is very real and staff employed by Weston College are struggling. The recently agreed 3% pay uplift for staff working in the college goes some way to limit the impact, however Weston College staff in prison’s are also in desperate need to a pay rise. As you know UCU submitted our claim and we are keen to progress the negotiations and reach an agreement before the hike in energy bills start to bite and inflation worsens. Staff working in prison education have been contacting the UCU committee reps and are encouraging you to move swiftly on their pay uplift and confirm the next steps as soon as possible. To indicate the strength of feeling on pay, staff are supporting this open letter and have asked UCU to raise it directly with you.
Best wishes
UCU Weston College prison education branch
