The UCU branch at Bradford College calls upon the Corporation and executive to pay us respect by awarding staff with a real pay rise that makes up for the last 12 years where we have had no significant increases. The value of our pay has not kept up with inflation and therefore the value of our pay has significantly decreased.
Staff deliver not only further education at Bradford College but also higher education and adult community education to people across the district. We are rated by Ofsted as Good and staff deserve a real pay rise which recognises the value of the work they deliver and their professionalism.
With railway workers, teachers, nurses and other public sector and university workers feeling enough is enough and fighting back, UCU members in FE colleges are no exception. We also need a cost-of-living busting pay rise.
The Bradford community needs professionals who are able to help students achieve their aspirations and as such we need better salaries to attract and retain the staff that are essential to the local community and local economy.
We urge the College to address income inequality through linking the pay ratio between the lowest paid employees with the senior management team salary packages.
If Bradford College fails to offer UCU members a pay rise that meets inflation, we will have no alternative but ballot for industrial action.
This is a UCU petition that is open to everyone to sign, including members of the public, UCU members and non-members, Local Authority Councillors, MPs etc.
