We all want the best for you. But that has to mean fair treatment and fair working conditions for people working here too.

Our working conditions are your learning conditions.

We’re campaigning to make Coventry University the best university it can be.

We’re calling on Coventry’s management to negotiate a better deal for staff and students.

Three things we think will make Coventry a better university:

1. More job security
61.1% of teaching staff at Coventry University are on casualised contracts.It’s wrong that students are taught by people who are employed on precarious contracts who don’t know from one year to the next whether they will have any work. Postgraduate students who also teach on your courses are even employed as low paid ‘temps’ through thefutureworks. You and they deserve better than that.

2. A collective voice for all staff
Unions help protect staff and give them a collective voice at work. Workplaces with unions are fairer and employees are happier, which means students get a better quality education. Teachers at CU College do not have collective representation. Support our campaign to get union recognition in all CU subsidiaries.

3. More democracy on campus
All organisations work better when people are involved in deciding their own futures. Organisations where small numbers of people take decisions behind closed doors are storing up problems. We think Coventry should open up its decision-making and start to draw on the voices and views of its staff and students, of our city and our communities.
